With a day off work booked and sunshine in the forecast we decided to go for a hurl on the bikes. As we hadn't been to the Aberdeenshire area in a while we drew up directions mostly staying on the small back roads after Kirriemuir for as long as we could. The weather was great and the roads were pretty quiet all the way to Banchory where we stopped for food, the wait in a bit of a queue for ice cream was worth it though. The scenery after Banchory through Ballater and Crathie was just as stunning, even though we took a wrong turning through Ballater taking us along the South Dee Road past the Balmoral Castle entrance, with neither of us being royalists we didn't stop to have a look like the other flag wavers. The best bit of the day was the run after Braemar along the valley floor up past the Glenshee Ski Centre without any traffic, stopping of in Blairgowrie for fuel for our next trip on Sunday to the Wee Smokie in Arbroath. A stunning bike run, roll on the next one.
