August Holiday Part 1 Sitkas Birthday.

We decided to spend the first part of the week in Gairloch at Big Sands Campsite, taking the car so that Sitka could have a holiday too, it was his tenth birthday after all.
Lots of sunshine from the Monday to Wednesday, although the midges were out in force, no amount of midge repellant or flailling of arms did anything to deter their lust for human or dog flesh. So much so that we spent Monday evening in the car and Tuesday evening in the campers kitchen with our carry out sheltering from the buggers.
The walks along Big Sand Beach and the two Beaches at Redpoint made it all worthwhile though, we even got a paddle in the Minch. Stunning scenery looking over to Raasay and Skye to the South West and Harris and Lewis to the West and North West.
We journeyed  home on Wednesday stopping off at Cromarty for  a bite to eat followed by too much ice cream. 26 degrees on the car temp guage had us crossing our fingers for good weather in Part 2 of our holiday to the Norton Tay Valley Branch meeting in Applecross.
